summary
- The authors analyses a group of 132 patients with renal carcinoma who un-derwant radical nephrectomy and extensive retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy. Metastases in lymphatic retroperitoneal nodes appeared in 59 (44.7%) patients undergoing surgery, in 26 (19.7% of the total number) of them they were diagnosed only microscopically. The topography of metastases in retroperitoneal nodes did not depend on whether the carcinoma was in the left or right kidney. The authors find it necessary to remove all retroperitoneal lymphatic nodes in all patients with renal carcinoma, all the more as even nodes changed macroscopically may contain neoplastic cells.
