summary

The article compares the post-operative process and complications in a group of 13 patients who did not have their peritoneum in the bottom of the pelvis sutured after cystectomy with a group of 17 patients who had their peritoneum sutured. The fre±uency of complications in a form of suppuration of the surgical wound or mechanical ileus was higher in patients with their peritoneum sutured. Leaving the parietal peritoneum unsutured did not delay the appearance of peri-stałsis, it enabled shortening the period of intravenous hydration of patients and resulted in a shorter period of hospitalization.
Leaving the site of the urinary bladder unsutured is a safe method having a favourable influence on the post-operative condition after cystectomy.
