kidney ectopy congenital malformation
summary
- A case of the forty one years old patient with crossed ectopy of right kidney (crossed renal ectopia) is presented (CRE). We
- present this report, considering that occurrence of this defect is a rather rare case. It is estimated that it occurs at a rate
- ranging from 0.05 to 0.1%. Diagnosing of CRE is not difficult, and in establishing diagnosis the following methods are useful:
- ultrasonography, computer tomography, intravenous urography and scintigraphy of kidneys. This anomaly in most cases
- has an asymptomatic course and diagnosis is sometimes incidental. Symptoms are not characteristic caused by dysuria, infection
- or urolithiasis and it should be remembered because it may be the cause of misdiagnoses and unnecessary decisions on
- operative treatment.
