summary

aim
The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the early catabolic postoperative period in patients subjected to cystectomy with intestine conduit basing on selected bio-chemical parameters and comparison among patients with ileal conduit and ileal neoblad-der.
Prospective study included 19 patients (9 women and 10 men) aged 37-74 years, subjected to extensive urological operations with the usage of ileum. In 18 patients cystectomy was performed because of bladder carcinoma and in 1 patient bladder cirrhosis. The patients were devided into groups depending on 1) method of urinary diversion, 2) sex and 3) age. All patients had their glucose, urea, creatinine, aminoacids, cortisol and IL-6 in arterial blood evaluated five times.
Age and sex of the patients as well as method of urinary diversion had no influence on the present results. There were no significant differences but for creatinine, urea and glutamine concentrations.
results
The results indicate that intensity of catabolism during the early postoperative period after cystectomy is similar and does not depend on sex, age of the patients and method of urinary diversion.
