Evaluation of the degree of progression of bladder carcinoma using ultrasonography

In a group of 1952 ultrasonographic urological investigations 133 ultrasonograp­hic examinations of the bladder were done through the coverings, and in 48 cases this examination was done transurethrally. The urological ultrasonograph Combi­son 111 was used. Blader tumours were found in 36 cases, in 28 them the tumour was recognized for the first time, in 8 cases these were recurrent tumours. In 14 cases infiltration of the bladder wall was found. In all cases radical or partial electroresection of the tumour was done. It was tried to classify the material by the TNM system as suggested by WHO. USG diagnosis of bladder tumour was confirmed in 100% cases. The authors think that ultrasonography by the method through the coverings and cytodiagnosis of urinary sediment should be the basic methods in prevention and diagnosis of bladder tumours.
