Straightering of the severely curved penis with preservation of the urethral in patients treated for distall and midshaft penile hypospadias

summary

A techni±ue of straightening of the severely curved penis in patients with penile
hypospadias is presented. Extensive mobilization of the urethral plate and urethra was carried
out in 5 out of 129 patients operated on for coronal, distal or middle penile hypospadias. These
patients constituted 11,6% of the patients with chordee. In the majority, chordee was released
by extensive mobilization of the skin flaps. Straightening of the severely curved penis by means
of mobilization of the urethral plate and urethra extends the use of the Mathieu procedure in all
the patients with chordee, who account for 35%-61% of all patients with penile hypospadias.
An additional advantage of the method consists in its role surgical education and training. It
helps achieve constantly excellent results with no switching of operative techni±ues.
