summary

The paper presents commplications after performing of 516 ureteroscopic procedures (URS) in patients with diseases of the ureter. Due to these diseases 419 patients were in treatment from June 1986 to Dec. 1991. Among the whole group of patients 371 had lithiasis, 27 had ureterostenosis, 7 had cancer and in 38 patients it was performed as a diagnostic procedure.
Effectiveness of treatment in ureterolithiasis was 94.0%, in stenosis — 60% and in cancer — 100%.
Some serious complications were observed: damage of the ureter in 8 patients (1.8%), infiltrative extravasation of urine in 1 patient (0.2%), ureterostenosis in 4 (0.9%) and stenosis in the orifice of the ureter in 1 patient (0.2%). The hospitalization was short and the occurence of complications less fre±uent than after ureterolithotomy.
