Objective. Open and closed scrotum injuries may have a considerable proportion of accidents beetwen 21-40% of injuries of lower urinary tract. Clinical symptoms of the injury are dependent on its cause and extension. Traumatic shock can develop in almost every case of injury because of extreme sensitivity of scrotum and testes region.

Material and method. During the period of 1994-1999 in the Department of Urology Institute of Surgery Military Medical Academy of Łódź, eighteen men aged 13-34 years (mean 23,5 years) with scrotum trauma were treated. Fourteen of them were treated surgically and in 4 (22,2%) conservative treatment and observation was carried out.

Results. We treated surgically 14 (77,8%) patients and in this group we excised only three testes. Early results of treatment were good. For follow-up examination after six months only seven out of eighteen patients were available. Various degrees of oligospermia was observed in all of them.

Conclusion. In the authors opinion nearly 75% of men with scrotum injuries have to be treated by surgeiy during 3-12 hours after accident. The function of testes after surgical treatment is satisfactory.
