summary
- The aim of the study was to establish the influence of serum PSA measurement on fre±uency of
- incidental prostatic carcinoma in surgically treated BPH patients. We compared two groups of
- patients: 1993 pts. without measuring of serum PSA (group I), and 256 BPH pts. (group II) with
- serum PSA level measured before surgery.
- Analysis of our results suggests that serum PSA measurement did not increase the rate of detec-
- ted incidental carcinomas, however the percetage of Tlb cancers decreased when serum PSA was
- in use
