summary

On the basis of an analysis of patients treated in the Urological Research Centre in Krynica the presently accepted Indications to referral of patients to spa hospitals are discussed critically. The number of patients treated for urolithiasis should be about 90%, including over 80% of surgically treated patients. Particular attention should be given to patients with calculi in the pelvis or ureter and the , probability of spontaneous evacuation of the calculus should be considered. Caution is reąuired in the approach to the cases with diagnosis of the so called sand lithiasis, if they are not being under constant urological supervision.
