urinary tract urolithiasis prophylasis treatment

summary

Objective. Author describes 4.5 years obserations of treated stone formers.
Material and method. 57 patients with active urolithiasis were treated with
the using of hydrochlorotiazid 50 mg/day, potassium citrate 60 mmol/day,
allopurinol 300 mg/day.
Results. In the treated groups significant decrease of the recurrence rate
and higher percent of remission of the disease were observed. In the calcium
oxalate group also decrease of the urologic manevrous was observed.
In the untreated groups decrease of the stone forming activity was also
observed, but not so high as in the treated groups (50-70% vs 70-100%).
Conclusions. Prophylasis and treatment of active stone formers decrease
the fre±uency of the recurrent urolithiasis.
