summary

A group of 30 patients with carcinoma or papilloma of the urinary bladder were studied for the level of sialic acid in the blood serum, urine and homogc nates of neoplastic tissue. The determination was made before radical transureth­ral electroresection of the neoplasm (TUR) and 3 months following it. The exami-nations showed that the level of sialic acid in the blood serum and tissue homo­genates may be a useful test in diagnosing and evaluating the radicality of the surgery of neoplastic changes in the urinary bladder.
