summary

DSA (digital subtraction angiography) is a new, highly efficient method of ex-posing the vascular system of the kidney by means of a digital subtraction angio-graph. Thariks to this apparatus the picture of bones and soft tissues is blotted out, and a subtractive picture of the very contrasted yessels emerges. Intra-arterial DSA is a method less invasive and more comfortable in Comparison with traditional angiography.
Only 2?4 ml of contrast medium is introduced intra-arterially at the same time a thinner catheter being used. This examination can also be made by an intravenous introduction of contrast medium.
In the Radiology Department of the Military Medical Academy in Łódź the DSA Angiotrom CMP apparatus was installed in 1984.
Diagnostic examination was made in 22 patients with renal cancer in 21 pa­tients, basing on the pathological vascularization, the doctors unmistakably recogni­zed renal cancer, and only dn one patient, with benign, neoplasm the examination gave a doubtful result.
