summary

In a group of 106 patients with a nodular hyperplasia of the (prostate, glandular epithelium was regular or revealed dysplasia of various degree. In electronic microscope, the cells of the grandular epithelium showed two kinds of secretory granules. The immunocytochemical reaction to the contents of the prostate acid phosphatase (PAP) and the prostatic specific antigen (PSA) was po-sitive, the reaction to the carcinoembryonic antigen was weaker. The prostate in-terstitium was characterized by a growth of the fibrous tissue, smooth muscles, ac-cumulation of multilobar granulocytes and lymphocytes. The authors' obserations confirm the usefulness of cytologic examinations in the morphological diagnosis of the prostate.
