summary

We report an unusual case of diabetic woman, with retroperitoneal abscess presenting first time as acute renal failure requiring hemodialysis. Diagnosis of abscess was confirmed by ultrasonography and computer tomography.
Percutaneous drainage resolved the abscess and Staphylococcus aureus was recovered from the drainage. Retroperitoneal surgical intervention and another supportive treatment: intermittent hemodialysis, antibiotics caused complete recovery of renal function.
