Indications for excision of inguinal lymph nodes in radical treatment of penis carcinoma

summary

In a group of 52 patients Vith carcinoma of the penis treated by amputation the 5-year survival ratę was 52.0%. Metastases to inguinal lymph nodes developed in 21 cases (40*/o). It was found that clinical examination alone was not always sufficient for establishing the indications to lymphangiectomy. The reported ana-lyses demonstrated that such features as ulceration and infilitrative growth of carcinoma, infiltration of corpora cavernosa and Iow grade of histological diff?-rentiation iracreased the probability of metastases and may be regarded as Indi­cations to bilateral removal of the inguinal lymphatic system.
