RESULTS OF RENAL CYST TREATMENT THROUGH PERCUTANEOUS PUNCTURE IN CLINICAL MATERIAL

68 Percutaneous punctures of renal cysts under the control of ultrasonographic image have been

performed in the Clinic of Urology of Medical Academy in Lublin since 01.01.1986 to 31.12.1992.

Only cysts with more than 3 cm in diametr have been ąualified in patients who complained of

urinary tract disorders. Histopathological examination of liquid from cysts has not pointed to the

presence of neoplastic cells. In 24 case 2 ml 1% solution of Vibramicin have been given in the place

of liquid, while in 44 patients 10-30 ml of 95% ethyl alcohol. No complications have been observed

;n 60 patients after the puncture. In 31 cases (47%) the absence of cyst has been observed in follow

up ultrasonographic examinations. In 16 patients the decrease of cysts has been reported. There was

no improvement in 19 patients (29%). These examinations have allowed to draw certain conclu-

sions:

1. Percutaneuous puncture is a procedure easy to perform and it rarely causes complications.

2. Cyst obliteration does not eliminate previous urinary tract disorders in all patients.

3. Cysts disappeared in about one half of patients.
