summary

Healing of renal parenchymal wounds was compared in 30 rabbits after trans-verse an;d wedge excision of the lower renal pole. The surface of the parenchyma after transverse amputation was managed suturing onto it Oxidised cellulose Ethicon haemostatic net. In all animals good Control of parenchymal bleeding was achieved. In wedge resection the renal wour;d was sutured with two mattress sutures. After the operation the animals wer observed during 7, 14 days and i, 3 and 6 months. After angiographic, microangiographic and microscopic investigations it was concluded that coverir«g of the renal parenchyma surface after transverse amputation of the lower pole caused no blood flow disturbances in the remaining part of the kidney and no impairment of healing. Transverse amputation was regarded as more sparing for the renal parenchyma than wedge resection sińce after the latter operation; large areas of impaired blood flow were observed in the kidney.
