summary

We reviewed 12 cases of ureteral strictures which developed after aorto-femoral bypass surgery. Of the 12 patients, 11 were managed
initially by endoscopic manipulations by inserting pig tail catheters. In 10/11 patients this way of treatment was continued for one
year. After this period of time, catheters were removed and seven days later we performed urography (IVP). Good results we achieved
in 5/10 patients. In 3/5 consecutive patients with bad results we performed resection of the stricture and end to end anastomosis of
the ureter, with the use of modeling (stenting) catheter. In 1 patient we performed definitive nephrostomy, in one nephrectomy. One
patient didn’t respond, from the beginning of the treatment.
