summary

The dynamics of morphological charges in ventral prostate of the rat was studied afer
administration of a single dose of oestrogen perinatally. The experiment was conducted in rats of
Wistar strain which were given s.c. a single dose of stilboestrol (POLFA) on the first day of life.
At 20, 28, 35, 45, 59, 67, 74 and 84 day of age of the animals, serum and prostate were taken and
the gland was fixed in Bouin li±uid solution. Lutropin (LH) and testosterone concentrations
were determined by RIA and the absolute and relative prostate weights were statistically
analysed. Prostate sections were evaluated histologically.
The results showed marked morphologicaly changes in ventral prostate, progressing with
time after the administration of oestrogen on the first day of life. The results showed marked
morphological changes (proliferation of connective and smooth muscie tissues, glandular
epitellium atrophy, and functional changes among other the change in the profile of LH and
testosterone secretion progressing in time after injecton of a single dose of oestrogen on the first
day of life.
