summary
- Objective. Transitional cell carcinoma most fre±uently occur in the bladder,
- very rearly in the kidney and in the ureter (51 : 3 : 1). The role of intravenous
- pyelography, ultrasonography and computed tomography in detection of
- urothelial carcinoma of upper urinary tract has been assessed.
- Material and methods. 15 patients has been treated because of urothelial
- carcinoma of upper urinary tract. The intravenous pyelography (IVP),
- ultrasonography, cystoscopy has been performed in all patients. Additionaly
- computed tomography has been performed in 7 patients.
- Results. Ultrasonography discovered urothelial tumors in 11 patients, IVP in
- 6 patients and computed tomography in 5 patients.
- Conclusions. 1. In experienced hands ultrasonography can be reliable method
- in diagnosis of urothelial cancer of an upper urinary tract tumors. 2. Bad ±uality
- of IVP decreases the probability of detection of urothelial cancer of an upper
- urinary tract tumors.
