summary

Megacalycosis is a rare congenital anomaly with dilatation of renal calyces
without coexisting renal pelvis dilatation. This anomaly is symptomless and
does not need any treatment. The renal function is normal but some urine
outflow disturbances may lead to infections and lithogenesis. IVP, dynamic
renoscintigraphy and Whitaker's test could be helpful in differentiation with
hydronephrosis.
Patients and method. The case of megacalicosis coexisted with renal stone
is presented. Patient was treated with ESWL with a good result ? total
desintegration and spontaneus expulsion.
