kidney renal cell carcinoma lymphocyte cytotoxic activity
summary
- Objective. Immunotherapy is a new method of treatment in advanced renal cell
- carcinoma. Authors compared IL-2 and IL-2 + BCG stimulation effect on cytotoxic
- activity of the tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL).
- Material and method. Tumor infiltrating lymphocytes from 8 patients with renal
- cell carcinoma were cultured with IL-2 alone and with IL-2 + BCG. The cytotoxic activity
- of TIL was examined in autologic tumor cells cultures.
- Results. The number of TIL-tumor infiltrating lymphocytes was the same in examined
- cases. The cytotoxic activity of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes was higher after IL-2 +
- BCG stimulation than after IL-2 stimulation alone.
- Conclusion. BCG stimulation of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes allows to reduce the
- amount of IL-2 and the cytotoxic effect is higher after BCG addition.
