- The paper presents the rules of evaluation of BPH operative treatment results'
- recomended by International Consultatian on Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
- patronized by WHO Prospective evaluation of 103 patients with BPH treated opera-
- tively (by open or transurethral adenomectomy) in our department in one year was
- performed according to these recomendations. The analysis was based upon evalua-
- tion of the following parameters: International Prostate Symptom Score (I-PSS),
- Quality of Life Index (QOL), peakuroflow (Qmax), prostate size (V) and, additio-
- nally, postvoid residual urine ? pre and 3 months postoperatively. Groups with and
- without complete urine retention were compared as well as results of open and trans-
- urethral adenomectomies.
