summary
- 13 patients with a stone in the upper ureter and 9 patients with a stone in the pyelo-ureteral
- junction (P.U.J.) underwent Percutaneous lithotripsy. Indications for using this method of treatment
- were as follows: no possibility of performing ESWL (17 patients), lack of effectiveness of the ESWL
- 2 patients), coexistence of ureteral stones and multiple renal stones on the same side (3 patients
- The Percutaneous treatment was successful in all patients with (P.U.J.) and in 9 patients (69%) with
- stones in the upper ureter.
- Percutaneous removal of stones from the P.U.J or the upper ureter is indicated in case of ESWL
- failure. The Percutaneous surgery may be considered the method of choice only in patients with
- stones of the upper ureter and multiple renal stones on the same side.
