summary

The receptor activity was studied in peripheral blood lymphocytes in 56 patients with prostatic adenoma and 104 cases of prostatic carcinoma. The active TEa rosette test and the total TEt rosette test were used. In patients with prostatic adenoma a statistically significant fall was observed of the lymphocyte count with a decrease in their receptor activity in both tests. This may be helipful in the assessment of the immunological status before surgical treatment.
In patients with prostatic carcinoma a significant decrease of the lymphocyte count was observed with a simultaneous rise in the leucocyte count in the peripheral blood. The rosette activity of lymphocytes was significantly decreased in both tests and decreased further with progression of the disease.
