- A group of 50 patients qualified for transurethral electroresection of adenoma had a thin-needle aspiration biopsy of prostatic adenoma tissue performed. Then bacteriological cultures from the tissue were made and its bacterias identified. Po-sitive cultures were found in 31 patients (62.0%). Patients chronically catherized had positive results in 81%, and non-catherized patients ? in 46.4%. The most common bacteria found was Escherichia coli (48.4%).
