summary

The results of postoperative radiotherapy with X 18 MeV photons were analysed dn cases of renal carcinoma treated in the years 1979?1983 in the Institute of Oncology in Warsaw. The material comprised 46 patients with advanced renal carcinoma irradiated 3?15 weeks after the operation with X 18 MeV photons with the beam directed to the site of the operation, with daily doses of 150?250 cGy/t in four weekly fractions to a total dose of 50?55 Gy/t. Treatment tolerance was good, no early or late complications were observed. The 2-year survival rate 45.7% and the 3-year survival rate 4O.7% confirm the effectiveness of this treatment.
